The Comstock 3-Prong Flash Hider pairs a classic retro tine profile with a modern Plan-B suppressor mount, so your 5.56 build keeps its period-correct look without giving up quick-detach can compatibility. Since it’s machined from 17-4 PH stainless steel with a black nitride finish, it holds up on standard 1/2-28 barrels while mating directly with Comstock LPA, Q Plan-B, and Rearden Atlas adapters.

Description

Comstock Armory 1/2×28 3-Prong Flash Hider

The Comstock 3-Prong Flash Hider keeps a Plan-B mount under that classic tine profile, which means you don’t give up a fast path onto a suppressor.

This muzzle device threads onto 1/2-28 barrels built for 5.56 and .223. Similarly, it mates directly with the .900″-24 adapter family, which includes the Comstock LPA, Q Plan-B, and Rearden Atlas mounts. Because the three-prong tines keep the flash-suppressing geometry of the original design, the device controls muzzle signature without adding real bulk. At just 1.8 inches overall, with only about 1.17 inches extending past the crown, it barely changes your barrel’s handling.

Comstock machines the body from 17-4 PH stainless steel and finishes it in black nitride. On top of that, it holds up to repeated suppressor cycles and everyday range use. The rotationally symmetric design also means you skip the timing shims other three-prong flash hiders need. Once it’s threaded on and torqued to spec, you’re ready to mount.

Key Features — Comstock 3-Prong Flash Hider

Paired with that retro tine profile, a few details back up the build.

  • Retro three-prong tine profile for classic AR-15/M16-style builds
  • Standard 1/2-28 threads for 5.56 and .223 barrels
  • Direct-mount .900″-24 base for Plan-B suppressor adapters — Comstock LPA, Q Plan-B, and Rearden Atlas
  • High-strength 17-4 PH stainless steel construction
  • Black nitride finish for corrosion and wear resistance
  • Rotationally symmetric — no timing shims needed
  • 3/4″ wrench flats (2-flat base, not Comstock’s usual full hex)
  • 1.8″ overall length, with only ~1.17″ added to the muzzle
  • 2.1 ounces
  • Not compatible with 9mm firearms

Why This Product Stands Out

Three-prong flash hiders often get skipped by shooters chasing pure flash suppression. That’s not the draw here — the appeal is a period-correct silhouette that still runs a suppressor when you want one. Given that the Plan-B mount sits underneath that classic tine profile, you get both without compromise.

Once you’re ready to mount a can, the rotationally symmetric body skips the timing shims other three-prong designs need. That said, the base carries only two wrench flats instead of Comstock’s usual full hex. Install it correctly the first time — 20 to 35 ft-lbs, with Rocksett recommended.

Ideal Use Cases

Given that this is a Plan-B specific mount, it fits a narrower set of builds than a standard flash hider.

  • Retro AR-15/M16 builds chasing a period-correct look
  • 5.56/.223 rifles that need a quick-detach path to a Plan-B suppressor
  • Shooters already running a Comstock LPA, Q Plan-B, or Rearden Atlas mount

Compatibility Information

Firearm Platform Compatibility This flash hider fits any AR-15/M16-pattern rifle with a standard 1/2-28 muzzle thread chambered in 5.56 NATO or .223 Remington. Since it’s bored specifically for that thread and bullet diameter range, it is not compatible with 9mm platforms. In particular, a barrel that already carries a 1/2-28 crown makes for a straightforward thread-on install.

Suppressor Mount Compatibility The .900″-24 base mates with the Comstock LPA, Q Plan-B, and Rearden Atlas suppressor mounts. If you’re running an RPA adapter, keep in mind this flash hider’s base carries only two wrench flats, not a full hex. A socket won’t reach inside the RPA to break the device free, since there’s no full hex to grab. Install it to spec the first time — 20 to 35 ft-lbs, with Rocksett recommended. Especially if you already run other Plan-B hardware, this device slots right into your existing setup.
