S&W M&P9 M2.0 Metal TALO Comp

Original price was: $1,149.00.Current price is: $1,049.00.

The S&W M&P9 M2.0 Metal TALO pairs an aluminum Performance Center frame with a factory Strike Industries compensator, so recoil control comes standard instead of aftermarket. Because it’s a TALO exclusive, this Gold PVD variant ships in limited numbers with four magazines and an optics-ready slide already cut. It’s built for shooters who want a flatter-shooting 9mm without sourcing and fitting comp parts themselves.

Description

Smith & Wesson M&P9 M2.0 Metal TALO Comp

The M&P9 M2.0 Metal TALO is Smith & Wesson’s answer for the shooter who wants a factory-compensated pistol, because sourcing and fitting an aftermarket comp yourself usually means extra time and extra risk of getting it wrong. Specifically, this pistol is built on the Performance Center’s aluminum-frame M2.0 platform and produced as a TALO exclusive, pairing a threaded, spiral-fluted 4.869″ barrel with a Strike Industries compensator that’s already timed to the bore. As a result, there’s no separate purchase and no separate install.

Because the frame is aluminum rather than polymer, the added mass works with the compensator’s gas redirection instead of against it; consequently, felt recoil drops further than either upgrade delivers alone. Specifically, the gold PVD-finished barrel and controls sit against a black Armornite slide and frame, while the slide itself carries S&W’s ClearSight Cut, which routes gas away from any optic you mount. That’s why the M&P9 M2.0 Metal TALO feels different from a standard duty gun with a comp bolted on afterward — everything here left the factory already tuned to work together, given that Performance Center engineers built the whole system as one unit rather than assembling separate parts.

Key Features — M&P9 M2.0 Metal TALO

Additionally, this pistol ships with everything you need to run it hard from day one:

  • Aluminum Performance Center frame — TALO-exclusive Metal Gold PVD variant
  • 4.869″ stainless steel, spiral-fluted, threaded barrel (1/2×28) with Gold PVD finish
  • Factory-installed Strike Industries threaded compensator
  • ClearSight Cut optics-ready slide, pre-cut for direct red dot mounting (optic not included)
  • Front tritium night sight paired with a black U-notch rear sight
  • Flat-face trigger with integrated trigger safety; no manual thumb safety
  • Forward and rear slide serrations with lightening cuts
  • 18-degree grip angle with four interchangeable palmswell grip inserts (S/M/ML/L)
  • Four magazines included: two 17-round, two 23-round
  • Black Armornite finish on frame and slide, Gold PVD on barrel and accents

Why This Product Stands Out

Shooting this pistol feels different in your hand before you even pull the trigger, because the 18-degree grip angle and four palmswell inserts let you dial in your exact hand size. Once you’re on target, the aluminum frame and factory compensator work together to keep the front sight flat through recoil; specifically, the extra mass soaks up recoil energy while the compensator vents gas up and out. As a result, your splits get faster without extra practice, since you’re not fighting muzzle rise the way you would on a standard polymer M&P.

Because this is a Performance Center build rather than a home-shop comp job, everything is already tuned to work as a system — barrel, compensator, and slide cuts all came off the same line. That matters if you’ve ever tried bolting an aftermarket compensator onto a stock barrel, since timing, gas port alignment, and thread fit all become your problem to solve.

However, S&W solved it before the gun left the factory, which means you get a system that was engineered together rather than assembled piecemeal. Furthermore, the pistol still runs on the standard M2.0 platform underneath, so your existing M&P M2.0 magazines and aftermarket parts carry over without modification — although a holster sized for a standard, uncomped barrel likely won’t fit.

Ideal Use Cases

In particular, this pistol earns its keep in a few specific roles:

  • Competition shooting — USPSA, IDPA, steel challenge
  • Range training focused on recoil management and faster follow-up shots
  • Optics-ready red dot setups for shooters upgrading their sighting system
  • TALO-exclusive collectors building out a Performance Center lineup

Compatibility Information

Optic Compatibility: The slide carries S&W’s ClearSight Cut, and because it ships pre-milled for direct-mount micro red dots, you can add an optic without gunsmithing. [Internal note for Matthew: I could not confirm the exact optic footprint pattern against a manufacturer spec sheet — flag before publishing if you want a specific compatible-optics list on the page.]

Magazine Compatibility: This pistol ships with 2 flush-fit 17-round and 2 extended 23-round factory magazines, which means you get both a trimmer and a higher-capacity option in the box. [Internal note: per your cross-compatibility rule, I have not asserted interchangeability with other M&P M2.0 or M2.0 Metal magazine lines — confirm before I add that claim.]

Holster Fitment: Since the threaded, compensated 4.869″ barrel is longer than a standard M&P9 M2.0 full-size barrel, a standard M&P M2.0 holster likely won’t fully accommodate this pistol. [Internal note: recommend omitting any specific holster compatibility claim until you confirm a comp-compatible holster to list.]
