The Henry SPD HUSH in .357 Mag / .38 Spl is the 2025 NASGW Best New Rifle — a purpose-built suppressor host lever-action with a carbon fiber tension-wrapped 416R stainless barrel, TAPCO M-LOK aluminum forearm, forged carbon fiber Picatinny rail, and 5/8×24 threaded muzzle. Because the lever-action cycles manually and .357/.38 Spl are inherently subsonic-capable, the HUSH is one of the quietest and most naturally balanced suppressor hosts available in any rifle format. Built in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.

Description
Henry SPD HUSH .357 Mag / .38 Spl Lever-Action Rifle
The Henry HUSH 357 lever rifle is the most technically advanced lever-action Henry has ever built — purpose-engineered from the ground up as a suppressor host, and the 2025 NASGW Best New Rifle Award winner that proved the lever gun still has room to evolve.
Henry’s Special Products Division started with a clear objective: design the ideal suppressor host from scratch without compromising the natural balance and handling that make lever-actions exceptional. Every component forward of the receiver reflects that mandate. The heart of the Henry HUSH 357 lever rifle is a 16.5-inch match-grade 416R stainless steel barrel wrapped in a carbon fiber tension-loaded sleeve supplied by BSF Barrels of Delavan, Wisconsin. Because the design creates a 95% air gap between the carbon and steel, the result is dramatic weight reduction, faster cooling between strings of fire, and temperature stability as the barrel heats — the carbon sleeve expands with the steel rather than delaminating under thermal stress. The 5/8×24 threaded muzzle ships suppressor-ready, and the 1:20 right-hand twist rate is optimized for .357 Magnum and .38 Special projectile weights across the full performance envelope.
A New Kind of Lever Gun
Forward of the receiver, the TAPCO lightweight skeletonized aluminum forearm with M-LOK compatibility replaces the traditional wood forend entirely — shedding meaningful weight precisely where it matters most for balance with a suppressor mounted. Additionally, a forged carbon fiber Picatinny rail mounts directly to the receiver for optics installation, while the receiver is drilled and tapped to accept Henry’s BB-RSM (Big Boy Rail Scope Mount) for shooters who prefer that mounting system. The American hardwood laminate buttstock in matte dark gray provides the traditional lever-gun silhouette while delivering the dimensional stability laminate offers over solid wood in field conditions. Furthermore, a ventilated rubber recoil pad and sling swivel studs complete the package — consequently, this rifle ships genuinely ready to mount an optic, attach a suppressor, and hunt.

Why the Henry SPD HUSH Stands Out
The lever-action platform has always had an underappreciated advantage in the suppressor world — a closed action during firing means no gas venting back toward the shooter the way a semi-auto does during cycling. The HUSH Series takes that structural advantage and builds an entire rifle around maximizing it. Moreover, the 95% air gap carbon fiber barrel construction is not marketing language — it’s a genuine engineering decision that keeps the muzzle-heavy weight penalty of a suppressor from changing the rifle’s handling characteristics, because there’s almost nothing there to begin with.
The .357 Magnum / .38 Special chambering is a particularly smart choice for the HUSH platform. Both cartridges are inherently subsonic-capable at standard loadings — especially .38 Special — which means the HUSH in this caliber can run truly quiet with appropriate subsonic ammunition and a quality suppressor, without any gas system tuning, cycling adjustments, or proprietary ammunition required. Furthermore, the lever-action cycling action itself is manually operated, so there’s no semi-auto cycling noise to manage, and no buffer spring or BCG smack adding to the sound signature. The result is one of the most functionally quiet suppressor hosts available in any rifle format. For the hunter, homesteader, or suppressor enthusiast who wants a quiet, fast-handling, American-made lever gun with a legitimate engineering story behind it, the HUSH makes a compelling case.
Ideal Use Cases
- Suppressed hunting — deer, hogs, predators at close to medium range
- Homestead and ranch rifle — quiet, fast-handling, low recoil
- Suppressed range use and training
- Competition — lever-action divisions
- Pairing with a pistol-caliber suppressor for cross-platform use with .357/.38 Spl handguns

Compatibility Information
Suppressor Compatibility The 5/8×24 threaded muzzle accepts standard .357 Magnum / .38 Special direct-thread suppressors. Because the lever-action cycles manually rather than semi-automatically, the HUSH functions identically suppressed or unsuppressed — no gas system adjustments, no cycling concerns, no back pressure issues. Additionally, the .357 Magnum and .38 Special cartridges are inherently subsonic-capable, making this one of the most effective suppressed rifle platforms available for close to medium range use. Verify suppressor caliber and thread pitch compatibility before purchase.
Optic Compatibility The forged carbon fiber Picatinny rail accepts any standard Picatinny-pattern scope rings or red dot mounts. The receiver is additionally drilled and tapped to accept Henry’s BB-RSM (Big Boy Rail Scope Mount) for shooters who prefer that system.
Accessory Compatibility The TAPCO aluminum forearm features M-LOK slots for direct attachment of M-LOK compatible accessories — lights, lasers, and sling mounts all attach without adapters.
Ammunition Compatibility This rifle accepts both .357 Magnum and .38 Special ammunition interchangeably. For maximally quiet suppressed use, subsonic .38 Special loads deliver the lowest sound signature without any modification to the rifle.
