The CZ Shadow 2 OR takes the pistol that already dominates USPSA Production Division and reshapes the rear of the slide specifically to carry a red dot.

Because CZ reworked the slide profile rather than milling a cut into a standard Shadow 2, the CZ Shadow 2 OR keeps its optic low and close to the bore axis once a mounting plate goes on, letting a dot return to the same point of aim the irons did. The trigger mechanism carries new internal components that smooth the double-action pull and shorten the single-action reset, so a shooter chasing fast Carry Optics splits gets a cleaner break shot to shot. Beneath that trigger sits the low bore axis and grip angle CZ carried over from the original CZ 75, which explains why the Shadow 2 family still points as naturally as it did decades ago.

The steel frame and slide wear a nitride finish, and CZ adds a black Polycoat layer over the frame since a holster rides directly against it on every draw. A 4.89-inch cold hammer forged barrel backs that finish with CZ’s lifetime barrel warranty, while a fiber optic front sight paired with a click-adjustable HAJO rear sight gives a usable iron-sight zero before an optic goes on the plate. Even so, blue aluminum grip panels with aggressive front and backstrap checkering lock the hand in place under recoil, and the swappable, three-position mag release lets a shooter tune reload speed to their hand. Three factory 19-round magazines ship with the pistol, which means most Carry Optics stages don’t need a reload.

Compatibility Information

Optic Compatibility — The Shadow 2 OR ships with a factory cover plate over the optic cutout, because brand-specific mounting plates are sold separately rather than included in the box. That said, CZ’s own parts catalog lists factory plates for the RMR/Holosun footprint and the DPP/Shield footprint, and the latter also covers the Vortex Defender and Defender XL, the SIG ROMEO-X PRO, the Holosun SCS 320, and the EOTECH EFLX, so a shooter has two verified footprint paths to choose from.

Suppressor Compatibility — The factory barrel on this model is not threaded, although CZ Custom offers an aftermarket threaded barrel for the Shadow 2 platform for shooters who want to run a suppressor.

Accessory Rail Compatibility — CZ machines a full-length Picatinny rail into the dust cover, so standard rail-mounted lights and lasers mount directly without an adapter.

Magazine Compatibility — The Shadow 2 OR uses CZ’s full-size 75-pattern magazine, and that magazine interchanges with the CZ 75B, CZ 85B, CZ 75 SP-01, and standard Shadow 2 magazines. For shooters in capacity-restricted states, a 10-round magazine is also available.

Holster Fitment — The OR model carries a different rear slide profile than the standard Shadow 2 to accommodate the optic plate system, so a holster cut specifically for the OR variant fits best. In contrast, a holster built for the standard Shadow 2 may not index correctly around the reshaped slide, especially with an optic mounted.
