Original price was: $69.00.Current price is: $66.00.

The Comstock Recessed Micro Brake is a 5/8-24 muzzle brake built to protect suppressor baffles while cutting felt recoil, sized for .308/7.62 bore. Its .900″-24 interface pairs with the Comstock LPA, Q Plan-B, and Rearden Atlas adapters, and the rotationally symmetric design skips the shims most brakes require. In stock at TX Arms.

Description

Comstock Recessed Micro Brake (5/8×24, .30 Cal Bore)

Most .30 caliber shooters don’t think about muzzle-device wear until their suppressor’s front baffle shows it, and the Comstock Recessed Micro Brake exists specifically to take that blast damage first on 5/8×24 barrels.

Comstock machines this micro brake from 17-4 PH stainless steel and finishes it in black nitride, and it threads onto a standard 5/8-24 barrel to take over as the sacrificial component in the system. That’s what allows it to absorb blast energy that would otherwise erode the first baffle inside an expensive suppressor. Its rotationally symmetric design also means shooters skip the shimming and clocking other brakes require — thread it on, torque the 13/16″ wrench flats, and it lands in time every time. Because it measures just 1.25 inches overall and adds only 0.42 inches to the muzzle, it keeps a rifle’s balance close to unchanged even after a suppressor goes on top of it.

Its .900″-24 interface works with Comstock’s own LPA adapter, along with common Plan-B options like the Q Plan-B and Rearden Atlas. That means shooters running .308/7.62 builds on one of those adapters can drop a suppressor on and off in seconds. Since the recessed geometry keeps intrusion into the suppressor to a minimum, fitment stays consistent even when paired with recessed-style adapters — a detail that trips up a lot of aftermarket brakes.

Key Features — Comstock Recessed Micro Brake

These specs pair with real-world details that don’t always make it onto a spec sheet, given that they reflect what actually happens under recoil and heat on a .30 caliber platform:

  • High-strength 17-4 PH stainless steel construction with a black nitride finish for corrosion resistance
  • Standard 5/8-24 threads, sized for barrels up to 0.750″ in diameter
  • Rotationally symmetric design — no shims or clocking required for correct timing
  • 13/16″ wrench flats for quick installation and removal
  • Compatible with .900″-24 Plan-B adapters, including the Comstock LPA, Q Plan-B, and Rearden Atlas
  • 1.25″ overall length, adding only 0.42″ to the muzzle
  • 1.2 ounces
  • Rated for use with bullets up to .308/7.62mm

Why This Product Stands Out

Most muzzle brakes treat suppressor compatibility as an afterthought. That’s exactly why so many suppressor owners end up replacing a front baffle years before they expected to. The Comstock Recessed Micro Brake flips that relationship, because Comstock built it from the outset to be the part that wears out rather than the suppressor. That distinction matters even more on .30 caliber platforms, given that heavier bullets and larger charges put more stress on a suppressor’s baffle stack than a 5.56 setup does.

Since the recessed micro brake doesn’t need timing shims, mounting it is a five-minute job instead of a trial-and-error session with a torque wrench and a stack of thin washers. Once a shooter threads it home, it stays rotationally correct no matter how many times it comes off and back on, which matters for anyone who swaps a suppressor between multiple .308 builds sharing the same thread pitch.

On top of the suppressor protection, the brake does real work reducing felt recoil and muzzle rise on its own, even before a shooter attaches a can. That makes it a reasonable standalone muzzle device for anyone not ready to buy into a suppressor system yet, as the option to add one later doesn’t require changing any hardware.

Ideal Use Cases

This brake fits shooters solving a specific problem, as it protects a suppressor investment while also trimming the sharper recoil that comes with .308/7.62 platforms:

  • Bolt-action and AR-10 pattern rifles in .308/7.62 running a Plan-B style suppressor adapter
  • Shooters looking to extend the service life of an existing suppressor’s front baffle
  • Precision and hunting rifles where reduced recoil improves follow-up shot speed
  • Builders standardizing a mount system around the Comstock LPA or a compatible Plan-B adapter

Compatibility Information

Suppressor Adapter Compatibility
The brake’s .900″-24 interface accommodates the Comstock LPA, Q Plan-B, and Rearden Atlas adapters, and all three share the same mounting geometry, which is what makes the swap possible. TX Arms carries the Comstock LPA and Rearden HUB adapters in-house as ready equivalents for building out a complete mount.
